Squire Law Library: Book a Visit

Squire Law Library: Book a Visit In-Person

Please book a visit to access a study space, browse the print collections or use the IT facilities (including photocopying, scanning and printing facilities). Socially distanced study spaces are available on:

  • Level 1: 24 study spaces
  • Level 3: 56 study spaces
  • Levels 1, 2 and 3: 26 study spaces with PC terminals

Please note that booking a visit ensures you will have access to a study space. However, we do not allocate a specific desk location at the time of booking and so you can choose where to sit, subject to availability, on arrival.

Please read the following information carefully to ensure a successful visit:

  • The Squire Law Library is located on levels 1-3 of the David Williams Building (Law Faculty). Access to all levels is via an open tread staircase; lift access is available on request.
  • To keep everyone safe, and maintain social distancing, we ask that chairs are not moved around the library. All study spaces are designed for one person only and group work spaces are not currently available.
  • Safety measures including social distancing reminders, one-way systems and hand sanitizer points are in place throughout the library.
  • Please wear a face covering in all parts of the library, including the study spaces, unless a medical exemption applies.
  • Study spaces are located in the open plan areas of the library, with social distancing in place. These spaces are designed to be quiet work environments, so please move outside the library if you wish to make phone calls or use audio equipment.
  • You are welcome to bring drinks with lids into the library. However, no food please. Please be aware that there is no water fountain or facility to refill drinks bottles available within the building.
  • Visits are available to book for up to 4 hours (Monday-Friday) and 2 hours 45 minutes (Saturday). You can arrive at any time within this booking window. Please leave the library at the end of your booking and remember to take all your personal belongings with you.
  • Current staff and students of the University of Cambridge can book a visit and you will need your Raven password to complete the booking form. If you are an external researcher, or do not have a Raven password, please contact the Squire Law Library team in advance of your visit.
  • To support NHS Test and Trace, in line with guidance from the Department of Health and Social Care, we will keep a record of your visit date and contact details for 21 days. All collected data will be held in accordance with the Cambridge University Libraries privacy policy and General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Bookings should not be transferred. If you are no longer able to visit the library, please cancel your booking using the cancellation link in your confirmation e-mail. If you need to amend your booking please contact the Squire Law Library team in advance: squire@law.cam.ac.uk.

Don't need to book a visit? You do not need to book a visit if you are using the following library services only, which are available from the Enquiry Desk:

  • Collecting books requested via the Click and Collect service (University Staff, PhD, MCL and LLM students only)
  • Returning books

If you need assistance with any aspect of your visit please contact the Squire Law Library team and we will be pleased to help.
