CUL: Tours for prospective members and new readers

CUL: Tours for prospective members and new readers In-Person

Book a 40-minute taster tour of the University Library with a member of our friendly Library staff focusing on our collections, services and workspaces.

The tour is designed for those who are thinking of joining the University Library or who have recently joined, and is an introduction to:

  • the building and the print and electronic collection
  • our search platform, iDiscover
  • digital user guides to help you make the most of your access to the library
  • how to register as a member

If you are a current member of the University, we recommend booking instead onto an orientation tour designed for users with a staff or student login: General Orientation Tour for current members of the University of Cambridge

Library membership is available to those aged 16 years old and over. Please book a place for everyone attending the tour.

The walking tour lasts around 40 minutes. The library is a large building, and the tour includes one flight of stairs. Contact us at participation@lib.cam.ac.uk if you would like support with access, and if you will be accompanied by children under 16. Accessible parking, step-free access and accessible toilets are available.

If you aren’t yet thinking about becoming a member but would like to see inside the iconic UL building, our events and exhibitions programme is open to all and offers a variety of opportunities to explore the library and the collections we care for.
