Assistive Technology Room opening hours

Opening hours Monday - Friday : 09:00-18:50 (09:00-21:30 in Easter Term)
Saturday : 09:30-16:30

There is a morning slot from 9.00am to 12.30pm, an afternoon slot 1.00pm to 4.30pm and an evening slot 5.00pm to 6.30pm (5.00pm to 9.00pm in Easter Term). Outside of these hours during University Library opening times, if the room is free it may be used.

Who can use the room?

This is a room for use by students registered with the Accessibility and Disability Resource Centre at Cambridge. It is available for one user, or for someone with a study assistant. Note that study assistants who are not current students or staff of the University need to register to use the University Library before they can access the room. Please allow 3 working days to receive confirmation.

Facilities

The room has an electronically operated height-adjustable desk, an ergonomic chair, a kneeling chair, a heater and a daylight lamp. Additional chairs can be brought from the adjacent main Reading Room. Please ask staff for help. There is a range of ergonomic equipment (wrist rests, foot stools, coloured overlays etc.) in the Reading Room which can be used in the Assistive Technology Room or elsewhere.

There is also PC in the room with the following Assistive Technology on:

  • Dolphin Supernova
  • Dragon Professional Speech-To-Text

Please note: if you would like to use the PC, you need to contact disability@lib.cam.ac.uk to register. Students are also very welcome to bring in any laptops or hardware of their own.
